In the late summer of 2021, 23-year-old Jamonese E. Hudson of Monroe, Louisiana, was shot and killed inside a foster home on Barrington Street. Police who responded to a call on August 10, 2021, found Hudson with a fatal gunshot wound to the neck; she died at the scene despite medical attention.
Authorities arrested 21-year-old Dashone Nichelle Thomas of Monroe in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement reportedly deemed the incident accidental, and Thomas was charged with negligent homicide, a charge that alleges criminal carelessness rather than intentional killing. The case proceeded into the legal system under that charge.
Hudson, also known as Jae-Jae, was remembered by family and her community as a vibrant member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church and a 2016 graduate of Vision Academy. Does anyone who knew Jamonese or was in that neighborhood on August 10 have information to share?
