Typolia Peters Jr., 21, was shot and killed outside his apartment at the Lumberton Cove complex (formerly Highland Park) in Bogalusa, Louisiana, on the morning of August 8, 2021. Detectives treated the case as a homicide and worked it for more than a year with limited cooperation from witnesses; anonymous tips were received but did not immediately produce an arrest.

About 13 months after the shooting a cooperating witness positively identified the shooter, and investigators obtained arrest warrants for 21-year-old Broderick Chatmon Jr. of Bogalusa. The warrants charged Chatmon with first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal use of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Chatmon was in custody in Harris County, Texas, on unrelated weapons charges when the warrants were issued; following resolution of his Texas case he was extradited to Bogalusa and in August 2024 was booked by the Bogalusa Police Department.

Does anyone in Bogalusa have information about Typolia Peters Jr. or what happened that morning?
