Montrell Quinn, 24, was shot and killed in April 2021 in the parking lot of a convenience store known locally as the green store on Sabine Street in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Emergency crews responding to multiple 9-1-1 calls found Quinn with several gunshot wounds and he was taken to Our Lady of the Angels Hospital, where a chest wound proved fatal. Investigators recovered a gun in Quinn’s back pocket at the scene.
Witnesses described the shooter’s vehicle, and the Bogalusa Police Department soon received a call from 23-year-old Kelton L. Johnson, Jr., who identified himself as the shooter and arranged to meet officers. Johnson told police that Quinn had flagged him down, challenged him to a fight, then allegedly retrieved a gun from his vehicle and approached the passenger side before Johnson shot him, saying he acted in self-defense. Johnson had an adult passenger and two young children in his car during the incident.
Detectives arrested Kelton Lamonte Johnson Jr. on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of dangerous weapons following the April 3, 2021 shooting. Does anyone have information about Montrell Quinn’s movements that day or witnessed the confrontation in the parking lot?
