On January 13, 2021, 34-year-old Brittany Jane Cormier of Montegut, Louisiana, was killed after identifying herself to hired killers who had come looking for her niece, the intended victim in a separate rape case. Brittany’s action apparently saved her niece, who hid in a closet and called authorities. A neighbor visiting at the time, 37-year-old Hope Danos Nettleton, was also shot and died at the scene.
Prosecutors say the plot was arranged by Brittany’s brother, Beaux Andrew Cormier, a convicted sex offender who allegedly hired Dalvin Montae Wilson and Andrew James Eskine to kill his niece to stop her from testifying against him on a third-degree rape charge. Wilson and Eskine reportedly surveilled the residence previously. Wilson was later convicted in Terrebonne Parish of first-degree murder for Brittany’s death and second-degree murder for Nettleton’s death, and of attempted first-degree murder of the intended target. Beaux Cormier is awaiting trial on two counts of first-degree murder.
Does anyone have information about Brittany, Hope, or the events that night that could help fill gaps in the timeline or the surveillance leading up to the attack?
