In the early morning hours of November 30, 2020, 30-year-old Abd Del Ghader Sylla was working the overnight shift at a Shell gas station on Williams Boulevard in Kenner, Louisiana, when two men entered the store. Around 2:10 a.m., the men—who had reportedly cased the location earlier—appeared to shop briefly before one produced a 9mm pistol and demanded money. Sylla handed over the register cash and complied with an order to kneel with his hands raised.
Despite his compliance, one of the men walked behind the counter, pistol-whipped Sylla, then shot him in the chest as he lay on his back. Sylla called 911, told the operator he had been robbed and shot and that he was about to die, and was later taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He left behind a one-year-old child and a pregnant wife.
Authorities identified two suspects and arrested them out of state; charges were filed in connection with the robbery and killing. A latex glove that fell from one suspect during the crime was later found to contain that suspect’s DNA. Does anyone have information about Sylla’s last shift, the robbery, or the suspects’ movements that night?
