In the early morning hours of November 9, 2020, a forced entry into a Breaux Bridge, Louisiana home ended in multiple shootings. Nathan Simon entered the residence of his in-laws while armed and shot his estranged wife, Jennifer Simon, in the leg. The gunfire and Jennifer’s screams brought her mother, 53-year-old Roxanne Hawthorne, into the room, and Nathan Simon then shot Roxanne multiple times. Roxanne later died of her wounds. Her stepfather, Charles Young, was also shot when he tried to intervene; both Jennifer Simon and Charles Young survived and were hospitalized.
Nathan Simon surrendered to authorities after the attack. The Breaux Bridge Police Department, with assistance from the Acadiana Criminalistics Laboratory and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, investigated the scene and pursued prosecution. No other details about motive or additional suspects have been provided.
Did anyone in the Breaux Bridge area know Roxanne Hawthorne or have information about that night that could add context to what happened?
