Malik Hall was 23 when he was shot and killed in a Metairie, Louisiana parking lot on July 29, 2020. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation after the shooting.

Detectives identified a person of interest, 32-year-old Dora Pineda of Metairie, who was located and interviewed; she was not arrested following questioning. Investigators then focused on a primary suspect, Kevin Watson. A warrant was issued for Watson, and the U.S. Marshal Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force later arrested him in Warner Robins, Georgia. He was held at the Houston County jail pending extradition to Louisiana to face charges in Hall’s death.
