Aliza Gabriel, 21, was killed in Raceland, Louisiana, on June 14, 2020, while attending a large party on St. Louis Street. A fight broke out just after midnight, and deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office had recently arrived when gunfire erupted. Gabriel and 20-year-old Tanasa Francis were both struck by bullets; bystanders and first responders attempted aid but both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the violence began when a man struck someone in the head with a glass bottle and then opened fire into the crowd. Detectives identified a suspect within days. On June 17, 2020, 28-year-old Cordale Richard was arrested at his home on St. Louis Street, taken into custody without incident, and confessed to the shooting. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and was held without bail.
Was anyone at that party willing to speak about what happened that night or who else may have seen events unfold?
