In the early morning of June 14, 2020, gunfire cut short a party on St. Louis Street in Raceland, Louisiana. Twenty-year-old Tanasa Janae Francis was among the crowd; she and 21-year-old Aliza Gabriel were struck when shots were fired into the gathering and were pronounced dead at the scene after bystanders and deputies attempted CPR.

Investigators say the shooting followed an earlier fight at the party during which a man struck someone with a glass bottle. Detectives identified 28-year-old Cordale Richard of Raceland as the alleged shooter. Warrants were executed at his residence on June 17, 2020, he was taken into custody, and investigators reported he confessed. He was booked on two counts of First Degree Murder plus related charges and held without bail.

Were any witnesses at the party able to provide details about how the confrontation began or the sequence of events leading to the shots being fired?
