Angela Haymon, 74, was shot and killed at her home in the Woodlawn Acres neighborhood of Baton Rouge on December 30, 2019. Her husband exchanged gunfire with Xavier, and Xavier was shot during that exchange.

Both brothers were arrested. Xavier was identified as the shooter and his case was moved to adult court; Jerome was charged as a principal but remained in juvenile court. Jerome’s initial charges of principal to murder and armed robbery were later reduced to attempted burglary, and he received probation. Xavier faced additional offenses while awaiting trial, including an arrest for attempting to buy a handgun with counterfeit money while on an ankle monitor and participation in a violent escape from the juvenile detention center; he was recaptured.

Per the account, Xavier, then 17, ultimately accepted a plea and was sentenced to 25 years in prison for manslaughter in Haymon’s death. The family described profound loss and urged stricter sentencing for juveniles who commit violent crimes. Does anyone have information about the case or knew Angela Haymon?
