Brandon Malveaux, 26, was shot multiple times on December 21, 2019, in the 100 block of Cotton Street in New Iberia, Louisiana. First responders found him at the scene and he was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. He was known to friends and family as Tato.
Investigators with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office say the shooting happened during what they believe was a failed robbery attempt. Two suspects were arrested the following day and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail: Tyler Bourque, 23, and Ronald Bourque, 50. Both faced charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery.
In July 2020 an Iberia Parish grand jury returned indictments. Tyler James Bourque was indicted for first-degree murder and attempted robbery; Ronald Bourque was indicted as principal to first-degree murder and attempted robbery. Investigators had indicated at the time of the initial arrests that more arrests were possible.
If anyone knew Brandon, his nickname Tato, or has information about the shooting on Cotton Street, please come forward.
