Johnathan Bothwell was 18 when he was fatally shot inside a home in the Dogwood South subdivision of Haughton, Louisiana, in the early morning hours of November 29, 2019. The shooting occurred during what investigators say was a planned robbery carried out under the guise of a drug deal, sometimes called a drug rip. An adult who was in the residence that night was also battered during the intrusion before the suspect fled.
Investigators say the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested 18-year-old Taylor Jackson Kerley the next day in Greenwood. Kerley was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated second-degree battery; law enforcement recovered the firearm believed to have been used. The investigation remained active as the community grieved.
If anyone knew Johnathan, was in Dogwood South on November 29, 2019, or has information about the incident, please come forward.
