In the late autumn of 2019, a November day in Eunice, Louisiana, ended in gunfire on East Maple Avenue. Deomaante Frank, 21, was riding a bicycle when a vehicle pulled alongside and multiple shots were fired; at least one hit Frank. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead on November 4, 2019. The shooting occurred close enough to Central Middle School that the campus was placed on lockdown.
Investigators described the incident as a possible retaliatory gang action. Within a week police arrested 19-year-old Demyron L. Skinner and charged him in connection with the killing. More than a week later an 18-year-old Eunice High School student, Lainey Claire Lomas, was arrested and accused of driving the vehicle used in the shooting. Skinner was later prosecuted and convicted of manslaughter; Lomas was indicted on accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
Did anyone in Eunice see the shooting or the vehicle that day, or have information about Frank’s movements on East Maple Avenue?
