Reginald LaTron Hill Jr. was 19 when he was shot on the evening of Tuesday, October 1, 2019, on Montgomery Avenue in West Monroe, Louisiana. Officers found Hill with a gunshot wound to the chest; he was taken to a local hospital and died later that night.

The investigation identified 16-year-old Jyheim Murphy as the suspect in an altercation that escalated to gun violence. Murphy was taken into custody and was charged as an adult with second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
