On June 18, 2019, 45-year-old Manuel Caronia was fatally shot while sitting in a vehicle in Metairie, Louisiana. He had been with a friend, 57-year-old Nicky Robeau, when both men were killed during what authorities described as a random act of violence while they were running an errand to pick up a part for Robeau’s daughter at an O’Reilly Auto Parts store.

The killings were tied to a series of shootings that struck the New Orleans metropolitan area in early June 2019. Investigators linked the same suspect to the June 17 shooting death of 22-year-old Isai Cadalzo in Metairie, the June 6 murder of Bruce Reed in New Orleans East, and several non-fatal shootings of moving vehicles in Kenner and Metairie. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Sean Barrette on multiple charges, including murder, attempted first-degree murder, and aggravated criminal damage.

Caronia was a mechanic and father to seven children: daughters Nyeisha, Kayla, Louisa, and Shakia, and sons Manuel II, Matthew, and Josh. He was remembered as compassionate and generous. Does anyone have information about Caronia’s life or the events that afternoon that could help fill in gaps in the timeline?
