A late-night dispute at Blackberry’s Bar and Billiards in Lake Providence, Louisiana, ended in deadly gunfire on the morning of March 23, 2019. Cheryl Latoya Lewis, 37, was found beside a gas line next to the building after shots were fired; two other people were critically wounded and treated for their injuries.

Investigators from the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana State Police say the shooting followed an altercation involving several people inside the bar. Authorities allege Quinishia Sanders, 34 of Epps, either had a gun during the fight or left and returned with one before the shooting occurred. Sanders was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder in Lewis’s death and two counts of attempted second-degree murder for the other victims.
