On the night of February 10, 2019, 19-year-old Alton Adams was killed inside his mother’s home on East Fontinelle Street in Lockport, Louisiana. Around 10:25 p.m., an assailant fired at least eight rounds at the house; four rounds penetrated the walls and one struck Adams. He was pronounced dead at the scene, reportedly in his mother’s arms with younger siblings nearby. Six other people were in the residence at the time and were unharmed by fatal wounds.

Investigators with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office quickly identified a suspect. On February 11 authorities arrested 17-year-old Jyairus Folse of Lockport and charged him with second-degree murder and six counts of attempted second-degree murder, one count for each person in the home. The motive was described as unclear while the investigation continued.

A grand jury later returned an indictment on manslaughter, and a November 2019 trial ended with a deadlocked jury. On December 19, 2019, Folse pleaded guilty to principal to negligent homicide and received a suspended sentence with credit for time served and three years supervised probation. On December 24, 2019, detectives allege they found Folse with a shotgun while he was on probation; he was taken back into custody on probation-violation-related charges.

Does anyone have information about the February 10, 2019 shooting or knew Alton Adams?
