A dispute on the evening of January 4, 2019, in the 4200 block of L. Theriot Road in New Iberia, Louisiana, ended with the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Richard Joseph Southern. Southern, born in Lake Charles, had lived in New Iberia since 2005, worked in the oilfield, and was the father of a son and three daughters.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m. an argument between Southern and a man identified as Kristian Broussard escalated; Broussard allegedly produced a handgun and shot Southern multiple times. Friends drove Southern to a local hospital, where he died shortly after arrival. Broussard fled the scene in a green 2000 Chevrolet Impala with two unidentified females; authorities issued a warrant charging him with second-degree murder and later located and arrested him in Middletown, New York.
Does anyone have information about that evening or about the people who were with Broussard?
