Darlene Cecelia Gotreaux, 70, and her husband Walter were found shot multiple times and dead in their bedroom at their home on U.S. 90 in Lacassine on Sunday, December 16, 2018. Deputies discovered the couple during a welfare check after a farmhand who worked for them—who had last seen them in the early hours of that morning after driving them home from church—could not reach them.

Both were active members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Authorities described the killings as appearing to be a targeted act against the Gotreaux family and said robbery appeared to be the motive. A farmhand’s account places the last confirmed sightings in the early hours of December 16, 2018; the couple were later found deceased by sheriff’s deputies conducting the welfare check.

Who in Lacassine might have seen or driven Darlene and Walter home that morning, or noticed anyone suspicious around their property?
