A homicide investigation began after the body of 38-year-old Fermin Pecina was found in Denham Springs, Louisiana, on August 10, 2018. Authorities determined Pecina died of a single gunshot wound and estimated he had been dead at least eight hours when discovered. He had reportedly been staying in the Baton Rouge area in the weeks before his death. Pecina had a noted interest in working on and detailing cars.
In May 2019, investigators arrested 43-year-old Kevin Dukes of Baton Rouge and booked him on a charge of second-degree murder; Dukes was already under indictment for a separate alleged murder at that time. A grand jury later reviewed the evidence in the Pecina case and declined to indict, and the charge in this matter was dropped for lack of sufficient evidence.
Did anyone in the Baton Rouge or Denham Springs area know Pecina or have information about his movements in the weeks before August 10, 2018?
