Steven Jerome Beaird was 61 when he was fatally shot in Haughton, Louisiana, in the early hours of Friday, June 15, 2018. An autopsy attributed his death to multiple gunshot wounds: to the left eye, the right side of the chest, and the right groin. Three bullets were recovered and the forensic pathologist testified the shots were fired from more than two feet away. Toxicology found marijuana and a high concentration of methamphetamines in his system.

Beaird spent most of his life as an ironworker and was remembered for leatherwork, poetry and a love of the outdoors. He was a father of five and a grandfather. The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated and identified a suspect; investigators recovered a pink Charter Arms revolver inscribed The Pink Lady and a hat from an area off Roy Road on January 29, 2019, items that became part of the case STATE v. MCLENDON.
