On the night of December 23, 2017, a Christmas party at the Southeast Community Center in Eunice, Louisiana, ended with the death of 23-year-old Tyree Frederick after he suffered multiple gunshot wounds. About 100 people attended the event; three other people — two teenage males, 14 and 15, and a 22-year-old woman — sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Eunice Police Department identified two suspects. Eighteen-year-old Rontreal J. Prejean of Lafayette, described as a rapper hired to perform that night, was arrested and initially charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder; a grand jury in April 2018 later indicted him on second-degree murder. Twenty-one-year-old Darron C. Carter of Lafayette, whom authorities said was a member of the Gremlin Gang of Vermilion Parish, was indicted by a grand jury in July 2018 on one count of second-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Authorities reported the shooting followed an altercation at the party, and said some witnesses cooperated while others were reluctant to come forward.

Did anyone at the Southeast Community Center that night or anyone with information about the altercation contact investigators?
