Fourteen-year-old Trennen Robinson died from a single gunshot wound to the stomach on July 6, 2017, in Harvey, Louisiana. He was privately transported to West Jefferson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A 16-year-old companion initially told Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators that the shooting was accidental and that Trennen had been handling the handgun when it discharged. During the homicide investigation the companion changed his account, saying he had been holding the firearm when it fired and that he had lied at first because he was afraid. That juvenile was arrested on charges of negligent homicide and juvenile possession of a firearm.
