Donald Richard Gros, 34, was fatally shot on Monday, June 19, 2017, during a domestic disturbance at a residence near Louisiana Highway 41 and Max Mercer Road in the Pearl River area. His girlfriend, 32-year-old Jennifer Magee, was also shot and killed in the same incident.

Investigators focused on Jennifer Magee’s ex-husband, Jason Matthew Magee III, then 40 and from Pearl River, after he was seen leaving the scene in a black 2015 GMC Sierra. He was described as armed and dangerous while a search was underway. Magee was located the next afternoon, June 20, emerging from woods along Interstate 59 near Pearl River; he surrendered without incident and it was reported he may have spent the night in the woods after abandoning his truck.
