Jennifer Wallace Magee was a 32-year-old registered nurse who was killed at her home in Pearl River, Louisiana, on June 19, 2017. Her boyfriend, 34-year-old Donald R. Gros, was also shot and killed during the same attack. The couple had been together while Jennifer was separating from her husband, Jason Matthew Magee, a separation that had lasted more than a year.

While the children were on the phone saying goodnight to their mother from their father’s truck, one child asked to speak with Donald Gros, which reportedly enraged Jason Magee. He drove the children to his parents’ nearby home, then went to Jennifer’s residence, kicked in the door, and shot both Jennifer and Donald in an attack described by prosecutors as lasting about a minute and a half. He later confessed to his stepfather and was captured the next afternoon after emerging from woods near Interstate 59.

A St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted Jason Matthew Magee on two counts of first-degree murder in September 2017. At his February 2019 trial, his attorneys argued self-defense; the jury convicted him on both counts, and in April 2019 he received two consecutive life sentences. Does anyone have memories of Jennifer, Donald, or the neighborhood around Pearl River that could shed light on what led up to that night?
