Alphonse Reed was 35 when he was found dead in his vehicle on Interstate 55 on March 15, 2017. Investigators determined Reed died of gunshot wounds, and the scene on that stretch of highway became the focus of a homicide investigation.

The case remained unclear for a time as law enforcement worked to reconstruct the events that led to his death. A later development named Carlos Heard as a suspect, and charges were filed alleging his involvement in Reed’s murder.

Anyone who knew Reed, saw activity along I-55 that night, or has information about the case is asked to come forward.
