Rashyad King was 21 when he was shot and killed in Raceland, Louisiana, in the early hours of Christmas Eve 2016. At about 3:25 a.m. on December 24 he was a rear-seat passenger in a vehicle on the 100 block of Brocato Lane when a single bullet entered from outside, through the rear passenger side door, and struck him in the back of the head. Two friends drove him first to Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital; he was later transferred to University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he died that afternoon.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation, processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. No suspects were publicly identified or arrested in the initial investigation, and authorities appealed to the public for information and offered a possible cash reward for tips. If anyone knew Rashyad, witnessed the shooting, or has information that could help investigators, please come forward.
