Tkeyah Hooker, 22, was shot and killed at a Shell gas station on West Thomas Street in Hammond, Louisiana, on December 4, 2016, after a domestic dispute that involved the father of her child and his current girlfriend. The argument reportedly began earlier in the day and reignited at the gas station; during the confrontation shots were fired and Hooker was struck. She was taken to a nearby hospital and later died of her injuries.
Hammond police identified several suspects quickly. Three people were arrested in connection with the killing, including the father’s girlfriend and a male; a third individual was later arrested and a fourth person was being sought. Charges included second-degree murder for those accused of roles in Hooker’s death. The case proceeded to the judicial system to determine legal outcomes.
