On the morning of Monday, November 7, 2016, 18-year-old Crowley High School student Dayton Harmon was found inside a vehicle in Crowley, Louisiana, after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the head in a double shooting. A second teenager, 17-year-old Jarius Wilson, was also discovered in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene; Harmon was taken to Lafayette General Medical Center and died later that same day.

Funeral services for Dayton Harmon were held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Ambassador Ministries Church in Crowley, and he was interred at Blue Branch Cemetery in Branch. He was remembered by family and friends as Day-Day, active in his church and community.
