On the evening of November 7, 2016, a dispute in Natchitoches, Louisiana, turned fatal for 30-year-old Tommy Wiley Jr. Wiley, an African American man, was in the parking lot of the Super Stop convenience store on Texas Street at about 10:30 p.m. when a verbal argument with another man escalated into a physical confrontation and Wiley was shot. He was taken to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Witnesses told Natchitoches Police that Wiley and the alleged shooter had a history of conflict. Police identified 31-year-old Cedric Daniels as the suspect; Daniels was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. A wrongful death lawsuit was later filed on behalf of Wiley’s estate against Abubaker, Inc., the store owner, alleging inadequate security.

If anyone saw the incident at the Super Stop or has information about the altercation leading up to the shooting, please share what is known.
