Christopher A. Veal was 32 when he was shot and killed in Alexandria, Louisiana, on the evening of April 16, 2016. The Alexandria Police Department investigated the shooting, which investigators said may have followed an earlier altercation that escalated into deadly violence.

Within a day of the shooting, authorities arrested a suspect who was charged with second-degree murder. Veal, a father and community member, was buried the following week.
