Kevin Roberts, 38, was a Black man from Opelousas, Louisiana, who was shot and killed on March 19, 2016. His death set off an investigation that led authorities to focus on a local man, Davien Bell. Bell was arrested in March 2016 and later indicted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with Roberts’ death.

Reporting says Bell was taken into custody March 21, 2016, on allegations of theft and possession of an illegal firearm, and that investigators soon tied him to the homicide. He spent years in custody as the case moved toward trial. In October 2019 the jury returned a not-guilty verdict on the murder charge and Bell was acquitted; accounts say he was then taken back into custody on other pending charges.

With the acquittal, no one was publicly convicted for Kevin Roberts’ killing. Does anyone in Opelousas have information about the night of March 19, 2016, or about Kevin Roberts?
