A deadly shooting in Reserve, Louisiana ended the life of 29-year-old Demario Gray after gunfire erupted late on Saturday, December 12, 2015, in the 1100 block of Highway LA 44. Deputies found one man wounded at the scene; Gray was taken by private vehicle to Ochsner River Parish emergency room and later to a New Orleans area hospital, where he died on Sunday, December 13, 2015. Another 30-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his hand and stomach during the same incident.
The shooting reportedly happened at a closed grocery store where a man identified as Juan Alexander was filming a music video. Alexander said Gray and others arrived in a multi-vehicle caravan, blocked his exit, and the confrontation escalated into gunfire. Two men, Alexander and Bryant Hayes Jr., were arrested in connection with the case.
At trial in June 2018, Alexander was acquitted of second-degree murder but convicted of attempted manslaughter, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and illegal use of a weapon; prosecutors secured habitual offender sentencing and in February 2019 he received concurrent terms totaling 35 years for the attempted manslaughter count, with additional terms for the weapons offenses. In December 2018 Hayes pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated battery and had more serious charges dismissed.
Does anyone have information about the events at the closed grocery store that night or knew Demario Gray?
