Ian Robertson, 33 and a resident of Lutcher, was found with a gunshot wound the night of September 14, 2014 at the intersection of Revere Drive and Essex Drive in LaPlace. Deputies from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office responded at 12:35 a.m. and performed CPR until EMTs arrived. Robertson was taken to a local hospital and died there at 1:35 a.m.

Investigators initially had no immediate suspects or clear motive, but stated they did not believe the shooting was random and that the victim and shooter knew one another, suggesting a possible domestic connection. The case remained under active investigation while detectives awaited forensic testing results.

In January 2016, 23-year-old Roddy Johnson of LaPlace was booked on a second-degree murder charge in Robertson’s death; he was already incarcerated at Sherman Walker Correctional Center on other charges and was held with bond set at $250,000.
