On the evening of January 27, 2014, Ronald Perrier, 26, and his younger brother Jonas Perrier, 21, were fatally shot outside a residence on E. Monterey Court in Terrytown, Louisiana. Deputies found a large number of spent shell casings at the scene, signaling a sustained exchange of gunfire. Their brother Jessie Perrier was present and identified one of the shooters to police, saying he saw Lavelle M. Harrell, known as Big Mike, shoot at Ronald before Harrell fled.
Arrest warrants were issued for Harrell and four co-defendants. Harrell was arrested and indicted on two counts of second-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; he pleaded not guilty. At trial the jury deadlocked on the murder charges, resulting in a mistrial on those counts, but convicted Harrell of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and he was sentenced to twenty years at hard labor without probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
Does anyone have information about the dispute that preceded the shootings or about the co-defendants named in the case?
