Jerrel Oster, 39, was found dead in her Metairie, Louisiana, home on May 8, 2013. Her husband, Neil Oster, spoke with her that morning and returned home around midday to find her slumped on the couch with a head wound. He attempted CPR; emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene. Investigators with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office treated the death as a homicide and said she had been shot inside the couple’s home in the 6000 block of Jean Street.
Friends described Neil Oster’s shock and his efforts to reconstruct the brief timeline between that morning’s phone call and the discovery. Investigators focused attention on an older man known to the family. A family friend said Robert Kyle had been at the Osters’ home for a party days before the killing, and deputies later said they believed the motive was money. An arrest warrant was obtained, and Robert Kyle, 78, surrendered to authorities on August 5, 2013; he was booked on a charge of second-degree murder.
Does anyone have information about Jerrel’s last day, the 6000 block of Jean Street, or Robert Kyle’s connection to the family?
