Akeem Boudreaux, 22, was one of two people found shot to death in their Edenborn Avenue apartment in Metairie, Louisiana. The victims, Boudreaux and his partner Morris Alexander Williams, 26, were discovered decomposed by friends who had not heard from them; the friends checked on their welfare and found the bodies on February 14, 2013. Both victims had been shot in the head; the killings occurred February 5, 2013.
Investigators traced the crime to Baton Rouge and arrested 20-year-old Melvin Miller on February 16, 2013, after police responding to an unrelated domestic dispute found Miller in possession of the victims’ stolen car. Miller was also found with the victims’ cell phone and laptop. Evidence at trial showed Miller traveled by bus from Baton Rouge to Metairie on the day of the murders and then drove back to Baton Rouge in the stolen vehicle.
The case resulted in convictions: a jury found Melvin Miller guilty of two counts of second-degree murder in February 2020 and he was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Miller received two consecutive life sentences plus a concurrent 20-year sentence for the firearm charge. Joseph Jasmine Alexander pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in 2015 for discarding bullets tied to the case and received five years probation.
If anyone knew Akeem, where he spent his time, or has information about that week in February 2013, please come forward.
