On the evening of August 17, 2010, 20-year-old Jeremiah Dewayne Adams and his younger brothers, 18-year-old Jarquis and 13-year-old Jean, were ambushed in a hail of gunfire in Keithville, Louisiana. The three brothers had just pulled into the driveway of a residence on Keatchie Marshall Road in their Chevrolet Malibu when the attack occurred that killed all three.

Investigators tied the shooting to a dispute over a stolen video game system. Authorities say Marcus Donte Reed, then 33, believed the brothers had burglarized the home of his girlfriend and taken the console. An assault-style weapon was recovered outside the residence. Law enforcement has stated the home had been broken into a day earlier but the burglary had not been reported, and investigators found no evidence linking the Adams brothers to that break-in.
