Sergeant Rogelio Roy Gonzalez Jr., a nine-year veteran of the Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Department, was killed on July 15, 2005, while responding to a reported shooting. When deputies arrived they encountered the homeowner armed with multiple firearms. The man refused orders to drop his weapons and opened fire.
