Quintia Miller, 26, was shot and killed on October 3, 2022, at Rowan Pointe Apartments in Mocksville, North Carolina. The shooting was described as a case of mistaken identity: the shooter, Harold Reid Jr., went to the complex looking for another woman, Shavonne Barnes, whom he feared would testify against him in an upcoming sex crimes trial. Reid allegedly misidentified Miller as Barnes and fatally shot her.

U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force officers and deputies from the Davie County Sheriff’s Office were at the apartment complex for an unrelated matter when they heard gunfire and immediately arrested Reid at the scene. He later confessed, was charged with first-degree murder along with several sex-offense counts, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to life without parole. Miller is remembered by family and community members as a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend; she left behind a six-year-old son, Kamari.

What details about Miller’s life or the shooting might help anyone who knew her or witnessed the incident come forward with information?
