Isaiah Rashad Taylor was 17 when he was shot and killed at his home on Hyman Avenue in Kinston, North Carolina, on the morning of Monday, July 25, 2022. He was an African American youth and a young father; his death deeply affected his family and the local community.

An investigation led to the arrest of 31-year-old Martecius Taylor. Martecius was charged with second-degree murder and ultimately accepted a plea deal rather than going to trial. Isaiah’s funeral was held at the Kinston High School Performing Arts Center, where friends and family gathered to mourn.
