Kimora Johnson was 18 and from Yanceyville, North Carolina. On the night of Saturday, July 2, 2022, deputies from the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots-fired call in Yanceyville. Johnson had been taken to a hospital in Danville, Virginia, with two gunshot wounds to her back and died early the next morning.

Police arrested 20-year-old KyUn Talik Thompson of Danville, Virginia, on Sunday and charged him with first-degree murder; he was held without bond at the Caswell County Detention Center and had a court appearance scheduled for the following Wednesday. Authorities have not released a motive or further details about what led to the shooting.
