Torrey Freeman was 18 and from Snow Hill, North Carolina when he was shot and killed on the evening of May 2, 2022. Deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:30 PM to a reported shooting on Exum Lane in Maury and found Freeman with a gunshot wound; he died at the scene. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting, and investigators are awaiting the Medical Examiner’s findings.

No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly identified. Freeman is survived by his mother, Angela Freeman, and other relatives; the community has rallied around the family while mourning his loss.
