James Lopez, a 28-year-old Hispanic man, was found shot and killed on a September evening in 2007 on the streets of Detroit. Investigators determined his death was a homicide, but initial reports gave few details about the circumstances or a possible motive.

Detectives pursued leads and interviewed potential witnesses, but the trail went cold. No suspects were publicly identified and no arrests were announced; the case was classified as unsolved and placed among the Detroit Police Department’s cold files.

Anyone who lived in Detroit in 2007 or who might have information about James, his activities that night, or people he knew is asked to come forward.
