Justin Devenish, 39, was shot and killed at his family’s home on Francis Street in Supply, North Carolina, on the evening of April 5, 2022. He was born September 16, 1982, in Fayetteville and worked at Matthews Motors; he also owned Gully and Company. He is survived by two brothers, Collin Devenish of Wilmington and Jordan Devenish of Raleigh; his mother, Kathy Gass Devenish, is deceased.
Brunswick County deputies arrested 79-year-old Edward Francis Devenish in connection with the killing. Edward Devenish was charged with first-degree murder and with possession of a firearm by a felon; records note a 2004 guilty plea for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and a 22- to 30-month sentence. Deputies say the shooting occurred about 6:45 p.m.; the brother who called 911 reported their father had shot Justin in the face and that Justin had no pulse. The caller told the dispatcher the father offered no reason for the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing and the motive has not been released. If anyone knew Justin, his movements that evening, or has information about what happened at the family home, please come forward.
