Hopefully this will be a cold case the authorities take a closer look at. DNA has evolved, and a fresh set of eyes would really help. This especially needs to happen before witnesses pass away due to time.
On September 15, 1979, 17-year-old Patty McDaniel and her fraternal twin sister Peggy disappeared from Pompano Beach, Florida, after recently moving there from Live Oak. The twins had been living with their father and his new wife following a childhood in New Jersey and had moved to Florida earlier that year. They and two men, 19-year-old Marvin Warren and 36-year-old Eddie Gross, had been living together in an apartment; the girls had even sent their mother a letter asking for help to return to New Jersey before they vanished.
On the night they went missing the twins and a man named Nelson George Johnson were reportedly headed to a disco club called The Plank. Four days later Johnson’s body was found in the trunk of his car; he was a homicide victim. It has been speculated the twins may have witnessed that killing, but Patty and Peggy were never seen again. Their bicycles turned up and there were possible sightings at a truck stop, but no confirmed trace has been established. The case is classified as endangered missing and foul play is strongly suspected.
Did anyone in the Pompano Beach area in September 1979 know the twins, the men they lived with, or remember seeing them that night?
