JyQuavion Marquis Daniels, 20, of Grifton, North Carolina, was shot and killed on December 2, 2021. Deputies from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 5 p.m. to a reported shooting at 5925 Saint Thomas Court; they found Daniels deceased at the scene. A juvenile relative who was at the property was quickly located and taken into custody; the juvenile was charged with an open count of murder and held at a juvenile detention facility with no bond.

Investigators determined the shooting was intentional, but detectives and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation continue to probe the circumstances and have said they do not believe any other suspects remain at large. Daniels was a member of Glory Unveiling Glory In Worship Ministries and was survived by his parents, Julius Daniels and Shakeima Clemons, siblings and other family members; his funeral was held December 14, 2021, at Don Brown Funeral Home with burial at Mills Family Cemetery in Winterville.
