Jaquan Lennel Boyd, a 28-year-old African American man, was shot and killed on November 30, 2021, on the 100 block of James Drive in Burlington, North Carolina. The shooting happened just before 5 p.m.; officers found Boyd with a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene. The Burlington Police Department opened an investigation and urged anyone with information to come forward.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested the day after the shooting and charged with first-degree murder; his name has not been released because of his age, and he is in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Boyd’s family and friends held a Celebration of Life service at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, and he was buried in Homestead Memorial Gardens.
Are there details about the moments leading up to the shooting or witnesses who haven’t yet spoken to police?
