Marcus Lee Key was 14 when he was shot and killed at Fourth of July Park in Kernersville, North Carolina, on November 17, 2021. Marcus, born October 4, 2007, was described as a singer and dancer who loved TikTok and spending time with family and friends.

A 17-year-old boy, Tristan Jones, fired a gun from the passenger side window of a car as it was leaving the park and struck Marcus in the face. Witnesses reported seeing someone shoot over the top of a car, and the driver identified Jones as the shooter. Jones was arrested and charged with second-degree murder; he later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and received a sentence of nearly six and a half years.
