Boyce Shane Plemmons was a 44-year-old white man from Buncombe County, North Carolina who was fatally shot during a home invasion on the evening of September 27, 2021. Deputies responded to a gunshot report at a residence on Ben Lippen Road in Asheville around 6 p.m. and found Plemmons deceased inside the home.

Investigators determined two people forced entry, threatened Plemmons with a handgun, stole his cell phone, and then shot him. A third person allegedly acted as the driver for the intruders. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Major Case Unit led an investigation that crossed multiple jurisdictions in Western North Carolina and another state, and three suspects were identified within weeks.

Two suspects were arrested on October 5, 2021, at an Asheville hotel and were found with nearly half a pound of methamphetamine; a third suspect was arrested in Cherokee County on October 11. All three were charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony breaking and entering. Did anyone in the area know Boyce Plemmons or see suspicious activity around Ben Lippen Road that night?
